Journeying Together at Nowanup

Updated: Mar 24, 2021

Noongar Elder Eugene Eades recently hosted an event at the Nowanup property that brought together Noongar Elder Dr Noel Nannup and other Noongar leaders, as well as non-Aboriginal people.

The event was facilitated by Eugene, Noel, Vivienne Robertson and Rod Safstrom, and explored connections between Noongar, Western and Middle Eastern wisdom.

The event was attended by 35 people, many of whom travelled to Nowanup from Perth and Denmark.

Nowanup is part of Greening Australia and Gondwana Link. It is "an innovative learning space set on 763 hectares of Nyungar bushland in Western Australia’s Great Southern region.

"The campus hosts on-country education programs delivered by Aboriginal Elders and educators, and the bush setting enables a transformational learning experience that recognises the wisdom of Nyungar learning and teaching methods" (Curtin University).
